On April 26, 2022, games.nrw took over the German Developer Award from Computec Media GmbH.
The German Developer Award is the most traditional award for outstanding achievements in the development of video games from German-speaking countries and has been awarded in different categories since 2004.
With the takeover, games.nrw guarantees that the prize will continue to be awarded in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Executive Board and Advisory Board work closely with the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Film and Media Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia and game – the Association of the German Games Industry.
The DEP will continue to take place at the end of the year. On December 8, 2022, the time had come for the first time: The best computer games of the year from German-speaking countries were honored at a big awards ceremony in the Flora in Cologne. From a total of 190 submissions, the jury selected the best games and teams in 13 categories. Around 500 guests from the games industry accepted the invitation from the new organizer and used the opportunity for intensive networking and an extensive after-show party to end the year.
